As I sit here dripping the current temp is 29 degrees, humidity 62%, “feels like 38”.

The team is tolerating the weather.  The mantra is drink, drink, drink.

Sunday August 16.
Full morning workout with Manitoba team. Athletes got a chance to get on the floating pontoon starting platform and got a swim in the harbor. Despite a few bits of sea weed the water is like a bathtub at 23 degrees. Definitely not looking like a wetsuit swim. We got a good look at the bike course that has been newly re-surfaced. A little transition practice and we called it a morning. Hot and tired the kids had a quiet afternoon sleeping and then ice baths.

RossAnne and I attended the coach/manager’s meeting at 4:00 pm. And this was followed-up with the athlete’s pre-race meeting. Organization at the games is good but it is definitely different operating within a multi-sport games environment. Our Sask Mission triathlon liaison, Ted Schaeffer is doing a great job keeping us informed and taking us on ice or Vaseline runs.

Another hot one. One day to go until the individual races.

A little later start today with an official course orientation with CSG and Tri-Canada officials present. The harbor front area is slowly being transformed for the race and it looks like a spectator friendly venue with a good view of the swim course and bleachers looking out onto the bike and run loops.

The athletes had a chance to do a few starts and swim the course again. Transition practice was difficult as transition will be right on the road and the course won’t be closed until race day. After a slow recovery ride back to the village the athletes headed for the cool of their rooms.

Caught the Sask men’s beach volleyball game against Manitoba. Sad to say we lost in the third game 21-19.

This evening remains warm as the athletes prepare for tomorrow’s race. Individual pre-race meetings with RossAnn are finished and it’s off to a good night sleep for the athletes.

Check out some of the pics on the website.
