Today in Tucson the weather was warm and partly cloudy. A great day to conquer the mountain. a 7:30 start saw the CSG athletes begin their ascent of Mount Lemmon. The previous ride up the mountain had brought cool conditions, drizzle and snow. Today was ideal and the kids were pumped. The athletes went out in several heats based on previous times. The idea was to have all arrive at the top at roughly the same time.
The morning went well with all CSG athletes attaining the summit. No major problems, just one flat. Our other participants, Brammon Edwards and Kendra Anderson completed 15 and 11.5 miles respectively. Val Lukas ran/walked to the 10 mile mark and Evan Howlett mountain biked to mile 12.
Everyone enjoyed a snack of pizza and/or cookies at the top. The descent was fast and without mishap. (although some brake pads may need some attention)
Cheers from Tucson
