I apologize for the lapse in blogging but it's been a bit hectic. I'm grinning a bit because the impression I had of the maritimes was cloudy, dreary cool weather; currently it is near 30 degrees and not a cloud. Almost too hot but after 8 months of below average temperatures in the west this warmth is welcome.

To get you up to date:

FRIDAY AUGUST 14TH, 2009:

Early morning in Regina with a 04:00 wake up for a 06:50 flight to Summerside. Everything went smooth. Everyone loved the 3 hour, 15 minute flight. Actually the distance is not great if you don't have to go through Toronto. The athlete village is at Slemon Park, which is a retired air force base

We were welcomed by the host organizers and promptly headed to the H1N1 screening tent.
They're pretty concerned about Swine Flu and the potential effect it could have on the games. There are hand sanitizers everywhere. With our room key in hand we headed off to meet the other sardines (4 bunk beds in a 10 x 12 room). I'm not complaining, we have a/c, some rooms don't.

Bike assembly and a ride to the pool for a shake out swim was the first order of business. Everyone needed a bit of exercise to clear the brain and justify the appetite. Food is readily available and our boys are certainly taking advantage of that. Quiet time 11:00 pm.

To be continued........
